Writing -My other biggest complaint is that we cannot have a target

QUESTION

The main reason that I want to do this paper is to
incorporate the town of Navarre. This is one subject that every resident in my
community has struggled with because most don’t want it to change. I am on the
side that it would benefit the community and the residences to have the extra
amenities. I do understand that there is a bad side to incorporating the
community. When I have contemplated both sides of the argument I still come up
with its more benefited than negative for us.
Some pros of incorporating the town are that we are growing
so fast that it is inevitable that other communities are going to merge with
us. Why not pass the law and control what they want to move into the community
rather than blocking everything out because it’s so hard to get licensed to be
here. We have one of the biggest tourist destinations around here in Destin
which gives the area millions in revenue every summer from all the tourists
coming down. Why shouldn’t Navarre take part in this and give the locals
something that they want as well to help everyone out.
My other biggest complaint is that we cannot have a target.
I came from a community where we had target, Lowes, home depot, and Walmart
just 5 minutes away. You have to drive to these other communities just to get
any of these. With the community being the size that they are we should have at
least one of these to be convenient for all of the residence to get what they
need without making a big trip to go get something small the publics doesn’t
carry.
Now some of the Cons that I do understand why some wouldn’t
want us to incorporate. The first reason that most would say is they like how
we are bigger but still have the small town feeling. This is nice to have
growing up in a farm community in the Midwest but we still had everything that
we wanted by going to town. The second reason is the infrastructure that would
need to be in place to help manage all finances. We wouldn’t have to hire any
fire department or police department because those are already in place but we
would have to implement a community structure with a court house and clerks.
The good news is we could still rely on the county for some of this because we
do have the amenities just down the road.
With all of the pros and cons it still want this to happen
so we can start to get some of the bigger box stores in our community. We only
have a few basic restaurants but they are all the same. We can choose bar and
grill or fast food. This is bad for the community because we all go to other
communities to eat most nights and not keep our money local. This will help us
to improve our current infrastructure but also to keep growing to keep evolving
as a community. I can understand the hesitation but you must keep up with
progression otherwise we will be like Kmart and about to close down.
