QUESTION

My grandmother was a very special and wise woman who taught me so much as a child that Ican now carry with me into my present and future life. I will forever cherish her teachings andwisdom with hope, knowledge, and understanding. She will always hold a place in my heart forbeing an exceptional and humble human being. It is even more meaningful for me to know thatthis person is my loved one. I would always let her know how much I loved her. I would remindher all the time of how wonderful of a parent she was to me. Words could never describe mydeepest gratitude I had for her. My grandmother raised my brothers and I in church; we wouldgo every Sunday. She was very serious about her faith in Jesus Christ. I was young and Isometimes could not understand her passion for him. I could see the love in her eyes as shewould talk about how real he was although I could not physical see who she was talking about. Iknew she was telling the truth and to know that he made her happy made me get inspired toknow him as well. My grandmother raised my brothers and I on her own up to when I was 17years of age. When I reached 17 years old, life as I knew had drastically took a turn for theworse. I found out that my grandmother had been secretly battling with cancer for years and ithad spread to her body. When I heard the news I was shocked and my heart felt like it had diedinside with a horrible idea that I may lose her. I did not want to lose the only reason why I knewlove. My grandmother sickness took a big toll on everyone in my family. My family are verydistant naturally, but my grandmother’s illness brought my family together. I personally felt alittle bit of anger for my relatives because I thought "Oh now they care". Everything was chaoticand emotional for me. My grandmother was in and out of the hospital, and each time she went, anxiety and fear started to raise upon my body. This was by far the most traumatic time in mylife. I remember when my grandmother was not in the hospital, I would lay next to her everynight making sure she was okay. As a child I had chronic asthma, and each and every time Iwould be admitted to children’s hospital, I would wake up and see my grandmother there next tome and smiling. I felt comforted. I promise myself in that moment, I will never forget thatmemory. When my grandmother got sick I remembered how she was there for me. I did my bestto cater to all her needs, it was by far challenging but worth it. My loving and hardworkinggrandmother passed away in March of 2014. I am still healing from the realization of her death.I will always carry her love for music. I would always carry her love for writing and I will carryher love for my siblings and I. I love her so much and I always reminisce her courageous naturewith my brothers. I am happy that God placed her in my life she is unforgettable and unique. She was my guardian angel on Earth. I can only aspire to leave an admirable foundation for myunborn children one day.
