Thank you for the post. Let’s expand the discussion to environmental liabilities. An obligation to clean-up environmental damages created during the normal course of business. An example is gas stations/convenience stores. Gas is stored in underground tanks, that after a stated number of years the tanks must be removed and the ground “environmentally cleaned”. The cost of these clean-up is estimated based on the current cost. Do you think an organization should record a contingency for environmental issues?Please only one page.
