QUESTION

MATH 533 Project – Part A
The following outline describes required step by step
analysis of the AJ Davis data set.
AJ DAVIS is a department
store chain, which has many credit customers and wants to find out more
information about these customers. A sample of 50 credit customers is selected
with data collected on the following five variables:

LOCATION (Rural, Urban, Suburban)
INCOME (in $1,000’s – be careful with this)
SIZE (Household Size, meaning number of people living
in the household)
YEARS (the number of years that the customer has lived
in the current location)
CREDIT BALANCE (the customers current credit card
balance on the store’s credit card, in $).

The data is located
under G-Drive, or your F-drive if copied before. In Minitab, click on file/open
worksheet/Under G drive, go to MATH533, and open MATH533projectDataset.
1-
Construct a pie chart
for qualitative variable Location and explain what pie chart indicates in terms
of proportion of account in different locations. See instructions A for Minitab
step by step procedure. (Copy and paste the graph into this word document)

2-
Construct Histograms of
Income, Size, Years, and Credit Balance and describe the shape of these
variables. (Copy and paste three graphs here) See instructions B.

3-
Find the descriptive
Statistics (mean, median, mode, standard deviation) on Income, Size, years, and
credit Balance based on three categories of location. Describe differences on
these variables based on location. (copy and paste here) See Instructions C.

4-
Analyze the relationship
between paired variables (income, credit balance), (size, credit balance), and
(years, credit balance) using scatter plot and fitted line plot. In all graphs credit balance is the Response
Variable. Explain the relationships and equations obtained. What does the slope of each line indicates?
(copy and paste 3 graphs here)

5-
Provide complete report
as follows:

your 1st individual variable, using graphical, numerical summary and
interpretation
Discuss
your 2nd individual variable, using graphical, numerical summary and
interpretation
Discuss
your 3rd individual variable, using graphical, numerical summary and
interpretation
Discuss
your 4th individual variable, using graphical, numerical summary and
interpretation
Discuss
your 5th individual variable, using graphical, numerical summary and
interpretation
Discuss
your 1st pairing of variables, using graphical, numerical summary and
interpretation
Discuss
your 2nd pairing of variables, using graphical, numerical summary and
interpretation
Discuss
your 3rd pairing of variables, using graphical, numerical summary and
interpretation

Minitab Instructions
A- Pie Chart Graph
In
Minitab click Graph/pie chart/click in open box on the right side/click on C1
Location/select. Then click on
label/slice labels/and check mark all boxes name, Frequency, percent /draw line. Then OK.
B- Construct
Histogram
Click on Graph/Histogram/Simple/OK/
pick Income from list and select/ then OK.
Copy and paste in the word file after part 2. Redo for other three variables for total of 4
histograms.

C- Finding
Descriptive Statistics
Click on Stat/Basic
Statistics/Display Descriptive Statistics/select all 4 variables/by Variable
“C1-Location”/ Click on Statistics and in new window pick only 4 statistics
from menu mean, median, mode, and std. deviation/Ok/Ok. Copy and paste in part 3.

D- Scatter
Plot and Regression Equation
Click on Stats/Regression/Fitted
Line Plot/ pick Credit Balance for Response and Income for predictor/Type of
regression is linear/OK. Copy and paste
in part 4. Must do two more scatter
plots with changing the predictor to Size and then year. Total of three scatter plots needed.
