NURS 3125 Seminole State College of Florida Pathophisiology Teaching Plan Paper
Teaching Plan Information
You will select preferred conditions/issues listed below for Neurology, Hematology, or Musculoskeletal System at the beginning of the semester. Each student will then be assigned to prepare one teaching plan – see the assignment list.
- Investigate your assigned condition* with at least 2 current (within past 5 years) professional (not patient focused) resources (one should be a current guideline or standard), and develop a teaching plan for an imaginary patient/family. APA citations and references should be included, with references at the end of the paper or the last slide if using a power point.
- Since this is a patient/family presentation, your references should include at least 1 professional, peer-reviewed current resource such as a guideline, and the other resources may be government or national/regional organization websites such as the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, etc.
- Be sure your teaching plan is written in lay terminology so a patient/family can understand it. Include:
- Causes of the condition
- Diagnosis
- Typical treatments
- Self-care and prevention
- Pictures (cited) are encouraged. Provide key information on the assigned condition but do not overwhelm the patient.
- The teaching plan should be Times New Roman 12 font and a maximum of 5 pages double spaced including resources/references. Margins should be set at 1 inch. OR a maximum of 8-10 power point slides including a title slide, and references at the end.
