Writing Logic Models Discussion Response

This week’s Discussion:

After reviewing the article, About Logic Models (below) and some of the support materials on your logic model builder site, think of a human services issue / program (based on a community need) for which you might develop a logic model and plan. This should be the program and organization that you will be using for your Final Project. Describe the target population of the program. This is the who will “receive” the program and should include the demographics of the target population as well as the service delivery area. Be specific in your description and consider similar demographics who won’t be targeted for your program. For instance, you may have a program which fights homelessness, but whose target population is homeless vets only. 

Respond to at least two colleagues in one of the following ways: share an insight from having read your colleague’s posting, validate an idea with your own experience, or expand on your colleague’s posting.

The program I will be using as my final project is the Ready to Achieve Mentoring Program. The program is through the Institute for Educational Leadership organization. RAMP is a career-focused program that uses a combination of group, peer, and individualized mentoring to help youth learn about job options, and how to set goals for themselves and identify concrete steps anchored in their daily lives to reach them. Each RAMP program is grounded in the local job market and emphasizes high-demand, high-tech careers available close to home, including exciting fields such as aviation, theater technology, medical lens manufacturing, nursing, and web design.

Specific Youth Population – Urban/Rural Youth, Ages 12-18 years old.
Strategic Partnership – High Schools, Middle Schools.
Family Engagement – Connects Families to Supports & Services as Needed
Mentoring– Career- Focused Meetings: Self-Assessment & Career Exploration

I will like to explore the New Castle County Promise program. This program focuses on individuals with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI), or those diagnosed with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) by a qualified clinician. The target population are individuals with SPMI within New Castle County, Delaware. In Delaware, approximately 3.7% of adults of the 952,065 population lives with serious mental health conditions (Resources to Recover, 2020). Not every individual with mental illness will fit the program; instead, the program will target individuals with SPMI who have met the targeting criteria.  To meet the criteria, each individual must have been professionally diagnosed, with one of the diagnoses included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), and which falls under the state’s definition of SPMI. Per the state’s criteria, individuals must be over the age of 18 year; have a qualifying Behavioral Health diagnosis;  meet needs-based criteria: either a moderate or severe functioning level on the Delaware-specific American Society for Addiction Medicine
assessment tool that evaluates both mental health and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) conditions (DHSS, n.d.). I will like to explore the program’s benefits to the individuals’ needs and recovery journey.
