Each week, there will be a discussion question posted on a forum on Canvas. The forum will be open on Sundays for discussions. Topics for discussions will not be related to the readings from the book. Discussions will be focused on current affairs, news articles, content analysis of social media, etc. The last day to post each week is Thursday, but students are encouraged to post their responses as soon as discussion questions or assignments become available, so as to encourage active online discussion.

Students are expected to participate regularly in Discussion Forums by responding to the weekly discussion questions and also responding to least two peers to continue the discussions. Students are expected to read or view the assigned material designated in the course outline before posting to weekly Discussion Forum questions. Students are expected to complete all Discussion Board posts on time. Late assignments and posts will count against your overall posting grade. Students are responsible for reading assignments if any weeks were missed. Due: Fridays

I keep track of student activity online by: 1) observing the time & date of discussion forum posts; and 2) using a course statistics function within Canvas that allows me to analyze how often students access relevant areas of the course site. (The latter function is one of several that I have access to as the administrator of the course site; as a student, you do not have the ability to use this function.)

In order to receive full credit for Discussion Forum postings, you should follow all of these guidelines: (***Ignore at the peril of your participation grade.)

· Your response must be both relevant (answers the question being asked) and substantial (demonstrates a thoughtful, informed response).
