UNIT 6.2
COLLAPSE
I found Jung`s theory to be the most interesting. The theory
of collective unconsious “the repository of all human knowledge”(Tangen,
2010) is very fascinating because I could correlate this theory with being
black in American. As a people of color, there is a lot harbored within our
conscious minds of what we endured in the past. The video mentioned that much
of our emotions and purposes are stemmed from previous archeological
representations and are the catalyst behind our life goals and purpose. I was
confused about what that meant but after looking up some term, I got some basic
understanding. Archeological representations aren’t as staright forward for
African Americans as they are for other cultures. Beyond slavery, our
“acheological representions” are hear-say. How does a culture
discover their purpose from archeological representations that have been
distorted by history and greed?

In the study of psychology, the theory of collective
unconscious not only deciphers the reason behind our current behavior, it
traces back to the foundation and answers the question, when? Behind every
problem or complex situation, I think finding the root would give us clearer
answers and solutions. For example, if psychologist weren`t informed of when
Genie had began being abused, and what triggered her father to do so, they
would have had a harder time developing a plan to get her into a healthier
state.
The idea is still relevant in today`s society because even
more today than ever before we are headed into more complex behavior. With the
constant stimulation from technolgy, people are adjusting their personalities
or lack there of to keep up. Keeping track of how society was prior to all
these advancements is crucial in moving forward at a healthier rate, metally
and physically.
